The beginning of the company Plantaplast goes way
back to the development of a biodegradable golf tee in 2001 of the company Digicard (founded by my father 1984). At this time the prosperous company Kunz Kunststoffverarbeitung was producing all kind of plastic cards and other printed plastic products, founded by my father on the occasion of the first Vienna International Garden Show in 1964. For this
event, Kunz imprinted small displays for the most beautyful flowers in
the world, which could be used at any weather condition.
The first Austrian check-card and the first
full plastic card (a Peugot Member card) was printed by Kunz and the
first UV-Offsett printing machine in Austria for printing up to 1mm thick
material was installed in this company.
A lot of different products made out of printed plastic, from plastic cards to ski-tickets, from mouse-pad to 16 color Swatch watch wrist-band are results from our development and production.
The company Kunz became in year 2002 a victim to the globalisation. The tak-over of most important customers, like Max-mobil (A), Radiomobil (CZ) and from my father also co-founded company Skidata through alien coperations has caused a 70 % loss of orders and turnover within a few months. This dramatical situation lead, dispite several rescue attempts, for my father loosing his lifework and for more than 80 workers finally to the closing of the company.
As son of the founder, graduate of the TGM - college for plastic and environment- and ecology minded user of plastic material I also taking care about our environment and the protection of nature and re-sources. I founded the company Plantaplast, one the one side to use the experience of my father and some of his workers, on the other side to bring some new and evironmentally friedly products to the market. This is demonstrated for example by our development of 100% biodegradable plastic cards and also the "BIO GOLF TEE" the only 100% biodegradable golf tee made mainly from wheat starch.
My fathers goals from the past are valid also today: Using our experience for the develoment of new and innovative products as benefit and advantage for our customers.
